Our observations Bravo for the use of the words percussions mélodiques. But the gongs are not the only bronze instruments : the metallophones are typical melodic percussions also. Besides, there is no mention of a yet common third material: bamboo. Whereas there is not one word about cymbals, the end of this definition lingers on elements not relevant to gamelan. Actually, this description reminds us particularly of a certain type of Javanese gamelan : the xylophone in question is the gambang, the plucked string instruments are the clempung, etc. |
